Life can be so unpredictable. Just when I had my heart set on attending the 2021 NFL draft, the league sent out a press release postponing the event to April 29th.
My excitement hit the roof! I mean, it’s not every day that you get to witness such an incredible event. No doubt, I was craving the electrifying atmosphere which the night invariably offers.
I was anxious to know when and how long the draft would push out for. I quickly grabbed my notepad, and called the NFL headquarters to gather the much-needed information. “The draft will begin at 8PM Eastern Time on April 29th and will run for roughly three days!”, a representative chirped back enthusiastically.
As I took a few quick notes, I felt my stomach do a backflip at the idea of watching this year’s raw talent get snatched up by the teams in the NFL.
I couldn’t help but feel instantly connected to the drafted players – I mean, it’s their hard work that earned them a spot in the draft – and so I was excited to know that I was sharing this experience with them.
But best of all, knowing the start date meant I could fully invest myself in the lead-up to the event. I was already planning on tracking all of the big names underpinning the draft, their college performances, and professional aspirations.
I mean, it’s not every day that such a huge event rolls around again, and I can’t wait to witness history in the making. How cool is that? Could they pick a better date to celebrate the start of a new season? It’s the perfect setting for a draft, and one that will definitely take some of the pressure off the players and coaches alike.
I’m beyond stoked to experience the hours of tension, drama, and expectation leading up to the kick-off. I’m curious to see if there will be any surprises, trades, or late-night drafts. Plus, I can’t wait to see just who will join the family of professional players and create a remarkable success story.
My friends can already feel my excitement in the build-up to the NFL Draft, and they are getting ready to join in the fun. We’ve already made plans to host a mini draft party at my house the night of April 29th, so you can bet I’m busy around getting ready to cheer on the future stars of the NFL.
Speaking of future stars, I’m keeping a close eye on the prospects of a few players that have caught my eye in college. I’m eager to see how far they go in the draft, and I’m sure the scouts have already started the process of predicting which teams will be looking to bid for whom.
Of course, for some teams, the draft is a pivotal time. Representing the start of a new era, the general managers for some teams will be paying close attention to the flexing of financial muscle during the draft. It should be interesting seeing which teams are willing to invest in the young talent, and more importantly; how they are willing to protect it.
I’ve been eagerly studying the players who starring in this year’s draft, and I’m already beginning to anticipate the exceptional show that is bound to unfold at the 2021 NFL Draft. Whether watching at home or in person, I’m certain the draft will provide an experience to remember, and I’m thrilled to have a front-row seat!
