I’ll admit, it’s tough for a regular Joe like me to wrap my head around how much law firms charge the NFL. It’s a massive undertaking and nothing in my experience has prepared me to even grasp the concept. But I do know that the teams themselves must spend a fortune to get the lawyers they need to take on their cases!

So how do all these legal fees add up in the end? In the case of the Cowboys, it’s rumored to be in the millions over the years. Some reports have gone as far as saying they’ve spent over a billion dollars on lawyers over the years. That’s a lot of money.
But things are changing. Teams in the NFL are beginning to realize that having good lawyers on retainer can save them millions over time. They’re able to settle out of court more often and the costs of doing so are far less than those associated with going to trial.
