highest paid qb in nfl

Wow, has it already been a year since the last highest paid QB in the NFL was revealed? It’s hard to believe that so much time has passed, and now the starting and highest paid quarterbacks have been announced. I was truly astonished and started to wonder how much money these QBs make and which one would reign supreme as the highest paid.

After doing some digging, I discovered it was Baltimore Ravens QB, Lamar Jackson, who took the top spot. His reported base salary of $23.8 million made him the highest-paid player in the NFL. To me, this was insane. Lamar’s big contract isn’t all that surprising when you consider he was the league’s first unanimous MVP last season and has been widely considered the best QB in the league.

I then started to consider some of the other top paid QBs and there are a handful who are very close to Lamar’s salary. Among them are Deshaun Watson with a reported $39 million, Dak Prescott, and Patrick Mahomes, both of whom have a reported contract of $45 million. But even with these immense contracts, none are close to touching Lamar’s.

I’ve also been paying attention to the pending new contracts that QBs are going to be signing over the course of the next few years. I’ve heard rumours that Russell Wilson and Ben Roethlisberger are already in the process of negotiating massive new contracts. It certainly looks like the salary cap is going to be increasing quite a bit in the near future, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the gap between Lamar and the other top QBs continues to widen.

That’s not to say that some of the other QBs aren’t worth their salaries, though. After all, Deshaun Watson has been making a strong case for himself as one of the game’s elite QBs, and his exciting playing style has earned him some extra attention from the fans. For his part, Dak Prescott led the Cowboys to another NFC East title and has had the backing of his team and fans since day one.

And of course, there’s Patrick Mahomes. The defending Super Bowl MVP has continued to show why he’s one of the best QBs in the league, and his accomplishments over the past few years speak for themselves. I would’ve been more than happy to see one of these players take the top spot this year instead of Lamar.

Still, the salary cap is what it is, and it’s not going to change anytime soon. As a result, the salaries of NFL QBs will continue to skyrocket, and it’ll be a long time before someone is able to take Lamar’s spot as the highest paid QB in the league. What do you think? Who do you think will be the next highest paid QB in the NFL?
