Wow, what a question! I’ve heard from a few people that the 2017 NFL season ticket holders have taken a hit in their numbers. It wasn’t at all what was expected, and I’m honestly kind of sad about it.
When the season kicked off last year, I remember how excited everyone was. We had just seen records broken in the season before that everyone expected to be shattered again. It was something that we could all be proud of and share in.
Tragically, that enthusiasm went away fast. The numbers for season ticket holders plateaued and then began to decline over the course of the season. We were all feeling pretty discouraged about it, myself included. I couldn’t believe that something that had started off with so much optimism was now going down the drain.
It got even worse when the preferred seating numbers dropped. I know for a lot of families this was especially upsetting. A lot of them had built memories around their season tickets and had heard stories about how those tickets had been in their family for generations. Seeing their dreams of watching a game with family members be taken away like that was so difficult for them.
My heart also goes out to all those fans who ended up losing out on their season tickets. All the time, money, and energy they had put into attending the games in the past suddenly going to waste with just one season was devastating.
Of course, it wasn’t just the season ticket holders that were affected by this. It was also the teams and all the other dedicated fans who wanted to share in the experience. Unfortunately, there just weren’t enough people attending the games to make it as meaningful and enjoyable for them.
Needless to say, it’s been a tough stretch for the NFL and all its fans. But it’s looking like 2018 is going to be an exciting year, and hopefully we’ll all have something to be proud of and share in at the end of it!
