Tre Hawkins’ NFL Draft came as no surprise to me. I had followed his college football career for four years, ever since I saw his first recruit video. That kid had something special, even then, and I followed his recruiting visits, and later, his college games, all through my laptop.
When draft day finally arrived, I watched with a lot of excitement. I had a gut feeling that this was it; the day that determined Tre’s success in his football career. When the Commissioner declared his name, it felt like my own. I felt as if I was just as much part of his success as he was.
When Tre stepped up onto the stage and put on the team’s jersey, I felt immense pride swelling in my chest. I was so proud of him, and all the hard work he had put in. He and I had talked numerous times over the years, and I knew that he had personally worked so hard to get to this moment.
When I heard people booing him during the draft, I wanted to tell them off. I know why he was picked high, and how well he had played. In the end, the boos didn’t matter because it was the team that saw his potential. He had married that team, and that was a whole different sentiment for me. I knew that Tre was in for something great.
When the pandemic hit and the NFL season was postponed, I had mixed emotions. I was disappointed that Tre had to experience what no one wanted, but I also understood that it was a necessary decision. I knew that whatever happened, Tre was going to be alright. He was a resilient guy, and I knew that he was going to make the most of this opportunity to be the best player he could be.
I’m not one to brag, but when the season got rolling and you saw how Tre had developed from the off-season, it became clear how much he had grown as a player. He was playing the game at a whole new level. All the hard work, dedication and training had come together. Seeing him out on the field, I knew that he was going to take the world by storm.
It’s been almost a year since Tre was drafted, and almost every move he made and every tackle he did was memorable. His plays made him a household name in the football world, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. It was great to watch him grow and develop into a great player.
Sure, there were some setbacks this season, but no one can deny Tre’s impact on the NFL. He’s already made a mark, and I can’t wait to see what he does next. He’s an electrifying player with a passion for the game, and I’m sure he will only get better. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for this guy.
