I had the opportunity to work as an NFL cheerleader and I was really excited! When I found out about the salary I was even more thrilled! I was expecting a little bit of an income but I didn’t realize, just how much. So, I’m here to tell you exactly how much an NFL cheerleader makes per year!
The average salary for an NFL cheerleader clock in at around $90,000-$100,000 a year! It’s an incredible wage and you should be jealous! With bonuses for special events, such as the Super Bowl, three day camps and appearances, a cheerleader can easily make upwards of $150,000 per year. It’s a pretty sweet gig if you can get it!
Besides the wages, cheerleaders get the added bonus of incredible fame and recognition. Being a cheerleader for an NFL team provides a personal brand of notoriety that can’t be bought. VIP tickets to games and special events, autographs to sign, and fabulous memories to look back on are just a few of the perks that come along with the job.
But, on the downside, not all that glitters is gold in the life of an NFL cheerleader. Plenty of travel, competition, practice, and game time, are just some of the obligations a cheerleader must be willing to make if they’re part of the squad. Not to mention the grueling physical demands of the job-quite the balancing act for any one person to handle.
Despite the drawbacks, I’d say the pros far outweigh the cons. I mean, you get to rock some seriously cute costume pieces and wow the crowd with your moves. Plus, you get to do it all in front of a fleeing crowd of thousands and receivers plenty of wonderful perks for the privilege. It really is an incredible opportunity and I highly encourage anyone thinking of taking on the challenge to do so!
However, there are some restrictions that come with the title. For instance, cheerleaders are not allowed to fraternize with players or coaches. They also have to maintain a positive public image—no drinking, smoking, or other activities that could tarnish their reputation.
In addition, there are a few essential pieces of uniform and equipment that have to be bought. Cheerleaders’ uniforms are often quite pricey, costing hundreds of dollars and need to be regularly replaced due to wear and tear. This can add up throughout the year, which might cut into their earnings.
So, there you have it, an NFL cheerleader can earn up to $150,000 a year. But, just like everything else, it does come with its fair share of pros and cons. Despite that, I’ve found that the experience, recognition, and friendship you can find in this line of work make it all worth it!
