Talking about the NFL Seahawks, I can’t help but be in awe of their rich and inspirational history. I remember, some fifteen-odd years ago, when they were the talk of the town. Everyone was rooting for them to bring home the Lombardi trophy. And they didn’t let us down! That win was nothing less than a truly special moment for the entire Pacific North West.
Back then, the Seahawks were unmistakably an underdog in the league. Everyone was rooting for them to pull off a miracle and they delivered. It was definitely a classic David and Goliath moment. And they backed it up again and again over the years.
I remember first hearing of the Seahawks in an old TV commercial from their championship season. It was a short, 30-second spot featuring a call and response from Seahawks fans. It ended with the iconic, “Go Seahawks!” catchphrase.
The Seattle Seahawks came into their own when they traded for quarterback Russell Wilson in 2012. Not only did he single-handedly turn the team’s fortunes around but also brought a new level of competition to the game. Wilson has arguably become one of the best quarterbacks in the game today and is a leader both on and off the field. We still can’t get over the 2014 NFC Championship game. Bringing back the Lombardi trophy two years later was just the cherry on top.
The Seahawks defense was both inspiring and intimidating at the same time. The core of strong athletes played as a cohesive unit with the goal to disrupt and shut down the opposing offense. Led by All-Pros like Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor, the Legion of Boom put fear into every opposing offense.
The Seattle faithful — the “12s” as they’ve been nicknamed — are some of the best fans in the world. Our forte lies in our community culture. The 12s are loud and proud for the team. Whether we’re winning or losing, we all stand together.
The Seahawks have always been a tight-knit family. From coaches and players to the owners, the staff, and the fans, the connections are strong. It’s the same mentality that makes us a formidable foe on game day. And that makes it all the more exciting when the home crowd gets going on game day. It’s an atmosphere — unlike any other— that’s hard to replicate.
The Seahawks have been a phenomenal organization and true inspiration for other teams and fans alike. Their hard work and dedication have led to successes both on and off the field. They’ve inspired millions of people, created a bond between Seattle natives and inspired the future of NFL football. It’s this culture and community that has made the Seattle Seahawks one of the top teams in the NFL.
