I was so excited to go to my first NFL game last year — the Denver Broncos vs the Atlanta Falcons! I had never been to an American football game before and wanted to know, as a newcomer, “Can you bring water bottles to an NFL game?”
As it turns out, the answer is yes! In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has encouraged fans to “Bring an empty clear water bottle and fill it at any drinking fountain or at any plastic water bottle refill station.”
So when I went to the game, I brought my own clear plastic water bottle and made sure it was empty before I went through the security gate. After they checked it, I filled it up at one of the refill stations located throughout the stadium. You could bring any type of sealed beverage container, as long as it wasn’t made of aluminum or glass.
I was so glad to know that I was able to stay hydrated through the game! Drinking water not only keeps you hydrated, but it can also help prevent dehydration-related issues like headaches, fatigue and even heatstroke.
It was also nice knowing that I was helping the environment by bringing my own water bottle. Many stadiums and arenas still use disposable cups for drinks at their concession stands, which is a huge waste of plastic. By bringing a reusable water bottle, fans are demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and helping reduce plastic waste.
I’m so glad that I brought my water bottle to the NFL game! It was a great way to stay hydrated and I loved knowing that I was helping the environment at the same time. I’d highly recommend bringing your own water bottle to an NFL game—it will save you money and help out the planet.
Now that I’m a more experienced fan, I know what stadium etiquette is in order. For example, I know that I need to leave the stadium after the first handshake or when instructed by the stadium staff. I also know that more items like a seat cushion or blanket may be allowed, as long as they are a reasonable size and I keep them under control while inside the stadium.
I am also aware of the type of clothes I should and should not wear. Loose fitting clothing or sports jerseys are usually accepted, but anything overly revealing or extremely baggy should be left at home. Weapons, laser pointers, face masks and large banners are also banned.
It’s also important to keep in mind that some stadiums have rules about food and beverage. Certain stadiums may not allow large food containers, so check with your ticket office before the game. Most stadiums will allow you to bring in food up to a certain size, so if you decide to bring your own snacks there’s a chance you’ll be able to get them inside the stadium.
Finally, don’t forget to keep your cell phone in your pocket! Many stadiums do not allow the use of cell phones during the game, so be sure to turn your phone off while you are inside the stadium.
It’s refreshing to know that I can bring my own water bottle to an NFL game and not have to worry about purchasing drinks from the concession stands. The key is to make sure that you bring an empty clear water bottle and fill it at the fill stations located throughout the stadium. And it’s helpful to know the different rules for an NFL game, like what type of food, clothing and items you can bring. It’s helpful to be knowledgeable about the stadium rules so that you can be prepared and enjoy the game without any problems.
