Man, can you believe that right now there are only 8 teams left in the NFL playoffs for 2020?! It’s totally wild! I cannot even fathom that we started out with 32 teams gunning for a shot to Pratt with a ring. The competition has been as intense as ever this season. I mean, so many teams have gone down trying and each and every one goes home with a minimum of satisfaction just for making it so far.
It doesn’t hurt to know that 6 of the 8 teams still left were the top 6 seeds either. The other two knockouts who clawed their way in have been nothing short of impressive, to be sure. The Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans certainly turned a few heads when they powered through. I remember watching the Titans vs. Patriots game, and even though it wasn’t pretty, the Titans had their fair share of lucky breaks.
Speaking of the Titans, I can’t help but think of their last AFC championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Like so many games this season, the Titans gave the Chiefs a run for their money. Who doesn’t, with stars like Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill, and AJ Brown going at it? It was an all-out shootout, and although they didn’t come out ahead, they were able to power on and break away from the pack.
Anyway, now in the playoffs, the 8 teams all have their respective spots with wild-card weekend behind them. The two games that will lead to the big game are the Texans versus the Chiefs in the AFC and the Bulls versus the Packers in the NFC. Those are going to be fierce matchups, to say the least.
Over in the NFC, we have the San Francisco 49ers who’ve been lights out this year. It’s not exactly a surprise that they’re the top seed, as they’ve been all but dominating the division for the entirety of the season. It looks like it’s the Packers and the Seahawks in competition to join them in the NFC championship game.
And then of course we have the notable rematch between the Chiefs and the Titans. It’s no wonder these two have come to battle again for one more show. As always, however, you got to love an underdog story, and with the Titans battling back at the top of it, it could be a doozy.
Meanwhile, the top teams in the AFC conference – the Patriots, Ravens and Steelers – seem to loom large. These squads all have the firepower to end up going to the Superbowl, and with the AFC being the stronger of the two this season, it’s likely that one of them will go all the way.
So, that’s a brief rundown of how many teams are left in the NFL playoffs. Eight mighty teams looking to make it to the biggest stage in sports. It’ll be riveting to see if the Titans can keep their run alive, or if the big dogs will take over. Who would you root for?
