Recently, the NFL has started to use mics in players’ helmets. This is a fantastic addition for both the players and the fans. I had the chance to find out firsthand recently when I attended one of the NFL games.
At first I was surprised to find out that all the players had mics in their helmets. Then as the game went on I felt like I was in a different world. As each player ran for the ball their heads popped up in my view and their voices boomed from the speaker system. It was amazing!
I was able to hear the calls and reactions as the plays went on, and it really brought the game to life. I was even able to understand conversations between players and coaches as they strategized their next play. It was like I was standing right there next to them. I was so immersed in the game.
I think that the addition of mics in the helmets really enhances the game for everyone in attendance. It makes the game that much more exciting. It’s like a piece of technology that unlocks the hidden secrets of the game. It enables sidelines to become part of the game, allowing us fans to know what is happening before the ball is thrown.
It also brings the athletes to life. You are no longer seeing them detached through your television screen. You are now right in the middle of the action. You can feel their excitement and elation as the ball is hauled in for the winning score. You can hear the disappointment in their voices when the team falls short.
I think the mics are a great addition to the game and really adds something special to the fan’s experience. I look forward to each game as I know I will always be getting an up close and personal experience with the players. It’s something we never had before, and I’m definitely loving it.
Another great thing about the mics are that players can provide analysis during the game and explain to fans what was happening on certain plays. They can also answer questions from the fans and give their opinion. This really gives the game an extra element that was not previously available before.
The mics also create better transparency for the referees. Referees now have access to all the words said by the players. This allows them to make better decisions, and quickly review calls that may have been incorrect.
Lastly, I think the mics in the helmets also provide a layer of safety. The players can quickly call for help in emergency situations and the coaches can quickly call them off if they are at risk of becoming injured.
The mics in the helmets are going to become a great addition to the game and I am excited to see it continue on into future seasons.
