My uncle, who was from Texas, would always root for the Dallas Cowboys, and my dad, who had a soft spot for the Minnesota Vikings, was constantly challenging him about the superiority of his favorite team.​ Even though I was born and raised in Colorado, I could never shake my allegiance to the Denver Broncos.​ Every Sunday I’d be glued to the television, screaming for the Broncos to get a touchdown and cheering every time their defense managed to stop a rival offence.​

Throughout the years I’ve experienced the highs and lows of being part of the Broncos’ fan base, but there’s something really special about being part of a group that’s cheering for the same team.​ We all celebrate when the team wins – and sometimes cry when they lose.​ Even though they may not be the best team out there, I think that’s part of the charm.​ They may not always have the most talented players, but our fans are always willing to support them through thick and thin.​

I have been a massive fan of the NFL since my teens.​ For me, there’s something special about the game, the atmosphere and the live experience of attending a NFL match.​ But, there is also a great opportunity to watch and listen to the games at home or on the go.​ The NFL has embraced technology and done a fantastic job of creating the ultimate digital experience for fans in the form of NFL Redzone and streaming games.​

However, there is still another way to watch the game – and that’s listening to an NFL game on an AM radio.​ Now, I’m not talking about a small transistor radio hidden away in your garage.​ I’m talking about listening to the game on a full-sized AM radio with all the bells and whistles to give you the ultimate in NFL listening experience.​

Wow, I can’t believe there are NFL players from my hometown of Fort Morgan, Colorado! Growing up I was never much of a sports fan, but I have always had a deep admiration for certain athletes who come from lesser-known towns like mine.​ I grew up listening to stories of the people who left Fort Morgan to go pro in the NFL and wondering what that could be like.​

Today, I’m proud to say that there are five NFL players from Fort Morgan, with the most notable being offensive tackle Ryan Harris.​ Ryan was drafted in 2007 by the Denver Broncos and had a six-year career in the NFL.​ He appeared in the Super Bowl for the Broncos in 2011, which is a pretty huge accomplishment.​ He is now retired after spending time with teams such as the Chiefs, Texans, and Steelers.​

Another notable NFL player from Fort Morgan is Jacob Tamme, who was drafted in 2008 by the Indianapolis Colts.​ Tamme was a tight end who spent time with the Colts, Falcons, Broncos, and Rams before retiring in 2018.​ He was a reliable player and was often a go-to guy for Peyton Manning during his days in Indianapolis.​

It’s amazing to see how far these five NFL players have come and how far they will go in the future.​ Each of them were able to push through the odds and prove to the world that you don’t have to come from a big city to make it to the big stage.​ Fort Morgan other native players should be proud of how these five players brought glory to their hometown, and I am sure of the fact that they shall inspire many more to follow their footsteps in the near future!

It’s amazing to me how many wins an NFL Coach can get in an entire career.​ Just take Bill Belichick from the New England Patriots, for instance.​ As of 2019 he had racked up 317 regular season wins, the most wins by any coach in history.​ That’s incredible to me!

Throughout his career, Belichick has seen a lot of success.​ He was the Head Coach of the Patriots for two Super Bowls and the Defensive Coordinator of the New York Jets for one.​ He has won 9 Division titles and been awarded 5 NFL Coach of the Year awards.​ To say that Belichick has had a winning career is an understatement.​

I think one of the main factors that gives Belichick this edge over other coaches is his longevity and consistency.​ In his entire career he has only been with two teams – he coached for the Cleveland Browns for five seasons and has been with the Patriots since 2000.​ That means he has been able to stay in one environment for almost two decades, gaining knowledge and honing his craft in one place.​ The result is no surprise – a long string of wins and championships.​

There are of course many other remarkable coaches in the NFL.​ Some other top coach’s who have graced the league include Don Shula who totaled 328 wins, George Halas who had 318 wins, and Tom Landry who came in just behind Belichick at 294 wins.​ Each of these coaches has their own success story, and when you compare them to what Belichick has achieved, it is even more incredible.​

Even when you take into account the success of contemporary coaches like Pete Carroll from the Seahawks or Andy Reid from the Chiefs, Belichick still stands out.​ Watching the Patriots and Belichick over the years has been nothing short of amazing.​ It is a testament to his work ethic, and a reminder that hard work pays off.​

The way Belichick has influenced modern NFL coaching is also remarkable.​ It is clear that he has a system in which he wants to place players and how he wants to run practices, and other coaches have taken note and followed suit.​ Belichick’s system of scouting, recruiting and developing talent has become the new normal, and other teams have tried their best to replicate or even improve upon it.​

I don’t think any NFL coach will be able to match Belichick’s record anytime soon.​ The combination of his skill as a coach, plus his long standing tenure with the Patriots, has creatd something that no other coach has yet been able to match.​

In addition to Belichick’s win record, he has also been incredibly successful in other areas.​ His teams have set records for total points, touchdown passes and fewest turnovers.​ He has created a dominant defensive style and been known for being able to adapt and out-coach his opponents.​ Plus, he has continued to work on improving the overall game, not just winning.​

Belichick is also a leader off the field – he often takes the time to mentor other coaches and help them improve and hone their skills.​ His willingness to share his knowledge and provide advice has allowed many coaches over the years to find success.​ It just goes to show what a truly remarkable coach he is, and why he’ll continue to be considered one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time.​

Since Belichick’s record-breaking win, other coaches have come close but never quite been able to match it.​ Mike Shanahan (Redskins, Broncos) has the highest win ratio of any active coach with 181.​ 2, but he’s actually quite a ways behind Belichick.​ Sean Payton (Saints) is next on the all-time wins list with 162, but again, that’s still quite a way back.​

The standard has been set, it seems like Belichick’s record will be hard to beat.​ It’s like that old saying goes, they don’t make them like they used to.​ The only thing left to do is for us to celebrate this remarkable feat, and reflect on how Belichick has influenced the game of football in such a drastic way.​
