When it comes to the NFL, offense is where it’s at. People might know the teams and the players, but can they guess the whole offense? If you’ve ever watched an NFL game, you know that the offense can usually be pretty complex. But there’s something so captivating, so electrifying about seeing a defense with their plan and then seeing an offense completely break it down with precision and speed. Oh man, I love it.
One team I’ve been following a lot lately is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have some of the best pieces on both the offensive and defensive sides in the league. On offense, they have a quarterback like Tom Brady, who is both precise and fast enough to break down any of the best defenses in the league. They also have running back Ronald Jones who has the agility to burst out of the backfield and find holes in the defense. The wide receiver group in Tampa Bay is also top-notch; Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Tyler Johnson have formed one of the most prolific receiving corps in the NFL.
So if I had to guess what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense looks like, I would say that it looks something like this:During the first downs, Tom Brady runs the show with his precision passing and plays a of game managerial quarterback. He’s looked at to spread the ball around the field to Evans, Godwin, and Johnson to allow them to make plays. If it’s a passing fire down, Brady spreads the ball around to create mismatches and make the most out of them. On the ground, the Bucs can rely on Ronald Jones’s agility and versatility to take advantage of any space or holes in the defense.
The Bucs offense likes to be as aggressive as they can be and take whatever the defense gives them. Their gameplan is to keep defenders guessing and open up options, and they do this by utilizing their various weapons. They focus on mismatches to create big plays in the passing game, and they look to take advantage of any space they can find in the run game. In addition, Tom Brady also likes to run some of his own scheme-design plays to exploit a defense even further.
The Bucs offense is all about speed and precision, which is why they have been so successful over the past couple of years. It’s also why I think they are one of the best offenses in the NFL. Granted, they won’t always score a touchdown on every possession, but they certainly have the capability to move the chains quickly and score when they need to. As Tom Brady said, it’s all about taking what the defense gives them.
Apart from the Bucs, there are several other teams in the NFL who have great offenses. The New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers are two great examples. The Saints can spread the ball around downfield with Drew Brees and his precision passing to the likes of Michael Thomas, who has been a revelation this season, in addition to Alvin Kamara, their running back. Green Bay, on the other hand, has pound-for-pound the best QB in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers, whose passing game is what makes their offense so potent. They also have Aaron Jones, a very capable running back, and some very reliable receivers like Davante Adams.
So, if I had to guess the best offense in the NFL, it would be a close race between the Bucs, the Saints, and the Packers. All three are packed with weapons, and they can all put points on the board when it’s needed the most. Sure, there are other teams with great offense like the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs, but those three seem to stand out a bit more to me.
Now, when it comes to the other side of the ball, the defense, it’s also tough to guess which teams are the best in the league. Sure, some teams have strong defensive players in terms of numbers, but at the end of the day it’s all about how the defensive plays as a unit. How they communicate between each other and how quickly they can adjust to an opposing offenses gameplan. It’s those small things that the best teams do on defense that makes them a great unit.
